In the area of drive electronics, Nord implemented an unusual concept in the hardware design of the in-house servo controller. In contrast to the architecture that was common up to that point, practically all tasks in Nord’s controller are performed by a single DSP ( digital signal processor ). This brings a speed advantage because, in contrast to conventional controllers, with such a servo, data does not have to be exchanged and synchronized internally between different electronic subsystems.
